Let's land the plane with some honest reflection.
I get it, you're probably juggling a million things: payroll, client demands, that gnawing feeling you should be doing more. Maybe you're even lying awake at 3 AM, wrestling with a decision that feels impossible. I've been there, staring at the ceiling, wondering if I'm even qualified for this. Imposter syndrome is real.
Where are you walking in the dark right now, pretending you see better than you do? I know I've those places. Maybe it's a hidden habit I'm not proud of. Maybe it's a fear that's driving my decisions more than I'd like to admit. Maybe it's just plain old exhaustion that I refuse to acknowledge, because who has time to rest? Name it. Bring it into the light with God. Say it out loud in prayer.
Where am I acting like a gatekeeper, deciding who's worth my time or who's "ready" for faith? I've to ask myself that all the time. Ask the Spirit to show you faces and names. Then, very practically, move toward one of those people with curiosity, encouragement, and presence.
Where do I need to lead more like a child of God and less like an image manager? That might mean apologizing to my team for snapping when I was stressed. It might mean resetting unrealistic expectations I've set for myself and others. It might mean opening Scripture before I open my email tomorrow, even if it's just for five minutes.
I know, you can't fix all of this in one dramatic moment. I certainly can't.
Start with one step in the light.
Pray a simple prayer: "Jesus, I want to come to you like a child and walk in your light. Show me where I'm hiding. Show me where I'm gatekeeping. Teach me to lead and live with your light at my feet."
Then watch for the next small act of obedience. Take it.
This is how the power comes back on, little by little. This is how we begin to flourish.

Your Morning Prayer
Father, I come to you today like a child who's tired of stumbling in the dark. You see every corner of my life and my work. You know the parts that look polished from the outside and the places inside that feel scared, confused, or ashamed. Thank you that you still say, “Let them come.”
Jesus, be my light. Teach me how to trust your Word as the lamp at my feet, not just a verse on my screen. Show me where I'm hiding, where I'm pretending, and where I'm leading from fear instead of faith. Give me the courage to bring my real thoughts, patterns, and decisions into your light, believing that your goal isn't to crush me but to cleanse me and make me whole.
Holy Spirit, shape how I show up at home, at work, and in every room I enter. Help me lead like a child of God, not a gatekeeper. Help me see the people others overlook and create spaces where honesty, grace, and integrity can grow. When the pressure rises, remind me that I'm not alone and that your light is stronger than any darkness around me or in me.
Lord, I'm asking for one clear step. Show me today where to surrender, where to speak truth, and where to move toward someone with your love. I place my life and my business in your hands again.
Let my next move be a step toward your light, and let that step begin a new chapter of courage, clarity, and quiet trust with you.
Amen.
Journal & Reflection
- Where am I still trying to walk in the dark in my life or business, pretending I can see just fine without God’s light, and what would it practically look like to bring that area into the open with Him and a trusted person?
- In what ways have I become a gatekeeper, deciding who's worth the time or ready for Jesus or for opportunities on my team, and how might God be inviting me to open the door wider with childlike humility and courage?
- If I truly believed I'm a child of God first and a leader, owner, or professional second, what's one concrete change I'd make in how I make decisions, handle pressure, or treat the people around me this week?
