A longing for home. Why life, leadership, and legacy must be built on one name. You can have the title, the office, the corner desk. You can build the brand, stack the clients, hit the quarter, and still feel the ache. That ache isn't just burnout. It's not just fatigue or friction or some midlife moment. It's a longing for home. Not the kind with drywall and shingles, but the one where your soul is finally aligned. Where your purpose isn't scattered across spreadsheets and status meetings. Where you're whole. And here's what might surprise you. That longing, it's spiritual. Business is not the final destination. In Zechariah 14:9, we read, "The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day, there will be one Lord, his name, the only name." This is not some abstract prophecy reserved for the theologians. It is leadership gold, strategy for the soul, and the map for navigating your Monday and your mission. If you're in business, heck, if you're in life, you know the game of names. whose name is on the project, on the plaque, on the list of keynote speakers, on the invite. We spend a lot of our energy building names, personal brands, business names, domain names. But Zechariah disrupts that hustle with one piercing truth. There will be only one name, and it won't be yours. Leadership rooted in lordship. Now before you feel discouraged, take a breath. This is not about minimizing your ambition. It's about maximizing your alignment. When God says he will be king over all the earth, he's saying something we often forget in the world of business. Leadership is not ownership. You don't own your team. You don't own your talent. You don't even own your own life. Everything you've been given, every opportunity, every skill, every challenge is stewardship. And when the one true king reigns in your heart, your business decisions change. You stop measuring success in likes and leads and start measuring it in legacy. But what about the grind? Let's be honest. Running a business, leading a team, and building a life are not always inspirational. Some days you're just trying to keep the lights on. But that's where this verse speaks most powerfully. Zechariah was writing to a people who had been in exile for 70 years. Their businesses were broken. Their economy was trash. Their homes were in rubble. And still God spoke, "I will be king. My name will be the only name. He wasn't just promising them better outcomes. He was promising them restored identity. He was giving them a vision bigger than Babylon and stronger than burnout. The modern-day application. This is not ancient history. This is the current reality. You and I are living in a marketplace filled with noise, competing messages, competing values, and competing names. But Zechariah 14:9 gives us a choice. Who's really in charge of your business? Whose name is driving your goals? Is it your reputation? Your need for control, your financial independence, or is it the name of Jesus, the only name that carries both power and peace? Because when his name is first, everything else gets ordered. Reflect and rebuild. Now, here's the mentor part, the gut check. Take 10 minutes this week, just 10. Sit with these questions. Where am I trying to be king instead of a steward in my business? What name am I prioritizing more than God's in my leadership? How would my decision shift if Jesus were sitting in the boardroom? And then take action. Pick one place in your business or life where you will intentionally let God's name lead this week. Speak his name over your team, goals, or stress. Journal what it feels like to surrender. Not give up, but give over. Home isn't far off. Let me leave you with this. You are not just building a company or managing a career. You are being formed and formation happens best when the foundation is unshakable. Zechariah wasn't painting a dream. He was revealing reality. There will be one king, one kingdom, one name. So align your life and business today with what will last forever. Because home, the kind your soul longs for is not far off. And neither is the king who brings it.
